Keep up the good "work"

I am probably going to offend some people in the world with this post, but I need to get back to basics with this blog. It's about my opinions. So here goes. I just want to say how happy I am that writers across America are on strike and picketing. Let me tell you how much it has affected me; it hasn't. The funny part of it all is hearing everyone in a frenzy because their favorites shows are in reruns and they can't handle life without their favorite TV shows. I rarely watch TV. All I need is sports and Biggest Loser-and if those writers go on strike, no worries, I am sure I can find some fat people to exercise in front of a camera. Most of you in the world watch too much TV anyways, it's good for you to take a break.

The best comparison I can make to all the reactions I am hearing from people about how horrible this strike is would be when the Coke machine at work is empty. All the women at work who drink 6 Diet Coke's a day and say they are not addicted-they completely lose it when they see that red light glowing. They're speeding off to Wal-mart, making calls to their husbands(well actually, they were all divorced at least once-so maybe they called a neighbor) to come bring them some Coke. They go nuts. I am not suggesting in any way that caffeine is addictive.

Because it is clearly not. Just asks Angela down below. It's just coincidence that she is ripping her hair out of her scalp at the same time she hasn't had a diet coke for 2 hours.

In conclusion. I hate writers of TV shows. I hate diet Coke. But I love all who consume one or both. I am not judging anyone, because I have my weaknesses and if Internet service providers went on strike I would be bald within an hour.

  1. Very well put Ben, can I just copy this post to our blog...or at least allow me to refer to it w/a link on our blog. I'm probably going to unless you call saying you don't want me to. Thanks again, I've been trying to think of a non offensive way to put my opinion out there just like you did.

  2. I'm not worried about the strike. I could watch re runs of The Office all day long. And if it didn't bother my wife so much I'd have a large Coke for every episode. Mmmm. I'm glad you'll still love me. :)

  3. People should do more constructive things other than watch TV, like playing Madden with your friends. I'm really glad that you had the idea to share your Madden game with Scott. It's been a bonding experience and it makes him so happy.

  4. I'm a little confused as to how video games are constructive. To each their own vice, I guess.

  5. There is some heavy sarcasm with that Madden comment.

  6. It's all relative. Video games are more constructive than watching TV, but whether or not they are constructive is debatable. With a video game, your mind is active. Watching TV requires zero brain activity. And I can guarantee that there is no sex, nudity, swearing, violence, or otherwise offensive material in Madden. Of course we all know that there are some pretty worthless video games, but to dismiss video games completely because of the few bad ones is a little premature.

By the way, I agree with Ben. TV can be pretty worthless and it requires us to be very selective.

Also, I sabotaged my wife's account and wrote the second comment. She wrote the first one.

  7. Yeah, some serious sarcasm. But again, to each their own vice. Video games are a lot more addictive than television--regardless of how "clean" they might be. I don't rationalize my television watching; I enjoy it, period.

I respect your opinion, Ben. I've always known where you stood. And I'm glad you love the sinner.

  8. First of all I must correct your grammar. Anyways is not a word it is anyway. Secondly, I love playing video games, but the can waste your time just as much as TV and you are staring at the TV for a extended period of time depending on how many games you are playing. Next thing is that Sports is as much of a waste watching a TV show. I have shows that I enjoy to watch because they entertain me in some way. The longest show that I watch is an hour long. To watch a football/basketball/baseball game what ever it is you like it is at least 2 hours, but more like 3 or 4 hours of your time.

  9. Keep in mind, BEN said nothing in the blog about it being a waste of time or about anyting else being constructive - just about content. And, enough with the grammar correcting! :)

  10. We all remember what Ben posted. Again, we've always known where he and you stand, and I've always respected you for having your own opinion and sticking to what you believe. That's why we all have free agency to judge for ourselves what content we want to watch, and it's between us and the Lord; and only He can determine if what we've chosen will have eternal consequences.

Must I remind you all judge not that ye be not judged? Like Ben said, we've all got things we need to work on. That's why we are all still on this earth. Let's not judge someone else's weakness against our strengths.

  11. I was right!! The way to maximum commentation is controversy. I hit double digit comments on my post for the first time ever.

Having said that, I will repeat that in posting what I have I had no specific people/persons in mind. I have just noticed in the world a desensitization trend. I think everyone else has too. I felt like I wanted to through it out there. That is it. I do not think any less of a person because they have a weakness in a certain area, because I can guarantee you that I have many weaknesses in many areas that none of you do.

I will add more to this later but I have to go....

  13. I was only trying to play a joke on Elisa, but she hasn't seen it yet, so it's really not that funny. At least I helped get Ben to double digits!

  14. Scott! You're sleeping on the couch tonight :) j/k! I still love you even though you say inappropriate things under my name. Video games and tv and movies and all that other stuff(perhaps you could include some internet surfing and some book reading as well) are good ways to idle away your time.
